Very poor and disappointing experience with Peterman Brothers.
In 2023, I paid for a full HVAC system (furnace and AC) and a water heater install. To say the past 2.5 years have been a mess is an understatement. From day one, the installation was clearly done wrong—visible cracks and leaks in the ductwork connections, loose wiring, disconnected sensors, pipes not insulated… things that should never happen on a brand-new system install.
I’ve had multiple technicians out over the past 2.5+ years trying to fix it, and still having issues. One winter, the system constantly kicked over to auxiliary heat, which drove my electric bill to nearly $800 a month. The explanation I got? “The system is good, it just hasn’t been set up and programmed properly.” After 2.5+ years, that’s unacceptable.
Now the water heater—which I thought was the only thing installed correctly—has a seized valve in less than three years, and I’m being told I have to pay out of pocket just to fix it to perform basic maintenance.
At this point, this isn’t a service issue—it’s a failure in installation, quality control, customer service, and accountability. I’ve spent almost 3 years dealing with problems that should have been handled correctly the first time.
My previous 20-year-old system was more reliable, easier to maintain, and honestly more efficient. I’ve seen no reduction in my utility bills, despite being told I was investing in a top-of-the-line, energy-efficient equipment.
I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

This company is a joke. Their prices are outrageous! I honestly, cannot believe this company is still in business. They only value is their protection club membership but it's really just a big scam. They sent someone out to do my annual plumbing inspection. The guy told me my water tested at a hardness of 20 which I thought was suspect because I have a water softener that is only three years old and has been well maintained. I have a tankless water heater so it is extremely important that I have a functioning water softener to increase the lifespan of my tankless water heater. I was given a quote of over 3,000 dollars for replacing my three year old water softener, which only cost me 1,000 dollars to purchase and have installed. The water softener has a five year warranty so I wasn't about to pay over 3,000 dollars for a new one. I called my general contractor and asked him to come take a look at my water softener. He came out and tested my water before doing anything else and said my water was tested at a hardness level of 2, not 20 like the guy from Peterman Brothers told me. Just to make sure everything was in order he ran a full diagnostic test on my water softener and it passed with flying colors. Peterman Brothers is extremely dishonest trying to scam people out of their hard earned money by telling them they need to replace things they aren't even broken. Steer clear of Peterman Brothers. Take your hard earned money and spend it on a company that is reasonably priced and honest.

My experience with Peterman Brothers has been very disappointing.
They installed a new HVAC system for me in April 2022. Within the first year, the system began short cycling due to an improperly sized lineset that should have been replaced during the original installation. After paying around $10,000 for the system, I was then told it would cost an additional $1,700 to fix their mistake. After months of back-and-forth, they eventually corrected it.
Now, just three years later, my heat pump is completely frozen. I was given conflicting information from 2 different techs who were sent out, and ultimately quoted about $3,000 to replace a defrost board and condenser coil sensor—despite those parts being covered under a 10-year warranty. Given the prolonged stress the system endured from the original installation issue, it’s very reasonable to question whether this premature failure is related.
Customer service has also been frustrating, with poor communication and difficulty getting callbacks. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Here’s some more praise of Peterman. Robert came out for warranty repair and was efficient as he was professional. Clearly knowledgeable ahead of the job, he quickly assessed a simple assembly mistake on my furnace. He has plenty of experience and it showed. He was helpful, friendly, and thorough. Thank you, Mr. Mullis! And an obvious thank you to Stevens, Mark, David, Brett, and certainly to Scott Sanborn for the work you did on the furnace and A/C install. You were ALL helpful, communicative, respectful, and hard workers. Much appreciated all around.
