Last Monday morning, an alarm alerted me to a leaking water heater in my basement. I contacted Paul Henderson Plumbing for assistance, as they had installed this heater for me five years prior. On this particular occasion, I was informed that the next opening was several days later, on Thursday; I reluctantly agreed to take the appointment based on having received professional service from Henderson on past plumbing jobs. My husband and I took time off from work to meet the plumber between the agreed upon arrival time of 10 a.m. – Noon last Thursday. At 12:30 p.m., I received a follow-up call to my previous inquiry as to why the plumber had not arrived by noon. I was assured that the plumber was still at his first job of the day but would be arriving at my home shortly. Given that 4 days had lapsed since my initial phone call about a leaking gas water heater and finding ourselves still waiting around at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the appointment, I made the decision to cut my losses with Henderson and reached out to a competitive plumbing firm. This company had a plumber at my doorstep within an hour; in a very reasonable amount of time, a crew had hot water flowing through our pipes once more. Paul Henderson’s website states that hot water is a necessity, and I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. They also mention that they provide 24/7 service to handle emergencies. Disappointingly, our need for hot water was not taken seriously nor did we receive an offer for 24/7 service. It’s a shame, because as an established client, we’d always received timely and professional service in the past. Lesson learned.

I'm an out-of-state landlord, so I wasn't present during any of the visits by Brennan, but the tenants told me he was knowledgeable and friendly. His estimate was understandable with a few pricing tier options, and after the work was done, he sent photos of what was done, and the tenants informed me that everything in our bathroom is now working well, after a full repipe (bathtub, sink, and toilet)

5 Star contingent rating…
Plumber Ted terminated/abandoned an unnecessary accessory natural gas supply iron line as requested. Assessed request and confirmed appropriate action, was able to obtain parts at nearby commercial supply retail store and implement repair the same visit.
Concurrently also serviced / demineralization of AO Smith tankless gas water heater using their company’s cleaning kit which includes the bucket, recirculating pump, hoses/adapters and liquid cleanser.
However would not consider replace of an existing whole house water filter’s cartridge even though I had the replacement filter, gasket, and lubricant. Eyeballed the filter and proclaimed it was incorrect size. I think he did not want to work on it as may have been unfamiliar with the device, brand, components and risk of unexpected issues. So lost opportunity for more revenue.
Both tasks completed in about 2+ hours including trip to obtain parts.
All parts and equipment used included in services for which price estimates were provided before work began. Quotes not supplied until on site inspection.
Service was scheduled for two days from contacting the office but had to be rescheduled to the next business day due to multiple plumbers’ illnesses. The rescheduling request did not occur until after the original scheduled appointment start time, which could have been a logistical inconvenience for folks who have to arrange time and travel away from work.
Several email and text appointment reminders received. Receipt received by email.
Pricing for the tankles water heater cleaning more expensive than competitor but gas supply abandonment fee less expensive. The mandatory service call minimum fee increased the total cost by a significant $ and % amount, which did not apply against any of the services.
If you have anticipated multiple needs ensure all are documented when placing the appointment as the one service call fee was told would cover if multiple visits necessary pending estimates approvals.
Paul Henderson Plumbing is why I called but it has been acquired by a larger company Mission Mechanical etc which now offers plumbing, hvac, and electrical but all seem to be completely separate business operations as your call is routed to each as I also inquired about hvac.
I feel the company seems reliable and communicates well other than the two logistics schedule problems previously cited. Pricing may be more expensive than smaller local independent companies but this place seems to have better office personnel coverage as another plumbing company I couldn’t get a callback for multiple days so sought a more available company of Paul Henderson.
So I called for a plumber specialist and in particular the natural gas line abandonment existing line physical description but was told the trucks have very few plumbing parts stocked so might require multiple trips/days at onset. The parts used, a short threaded pipe and an end cap, I would expect are commonly used items but still the parts had to be obtained off site. I think this is a clear indication that any plumbing call could be extended by normal modus operandi than preparation by the company so you can expect some extra time and effort for any custom work. I also asked for a p trap drain install service on an existing line quote but these parts also had to be obtained if to be used as not already on the truck.
All that said and over decades having used plumbers of different companies for water well, well pressure tank, city water supplied residential system repair and home renovations I would suggest you give Paul Henderson a chance as they at this time seems to have the personnel bandwidth capacity that most of the smaller independents struggle but at a slightly higher price. You’ll still get the parts supply availability issues as typical but at least you’ll likely get better communication through out.
Example, electronic notification when plumber is en route and allegedly a system to track their arrival ETA.

My Kohler smart toilet was leaking.
I called Paul Henderson Plumbing and asked for Jordan Martens, who worked on this toilet before. And once again Jordan was on the top. Jordan is a highly professional, very knowledgeable and very detailed oriented person. He is an excellent troubleshooter, very experience tradesman and a pleasure to be around person.
Thumbs up Jordan! Highly recommended.
Thank you Jordan! Thank you Henderson!
